Department of Financial Services Offering Insurance Assistance at the Newport Fire Department

The Herkimer County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) today announced that the Department of Financial Services has deployed its Mobile Command Center to help homeowners, renters and business owners with insurance-related issues stemming from damage caused by the October 31, 2019 flood.
NYS Division of Financial Services (DFS) representatives are at the Newport Fire Department today, November 6, 2019. Department representatives will help citizens contact their insurers if they have been unable to do so, and answer questions about homeowners', renters' and business owners' insurance coverage.
Citizens unable to go to the Mobile Command Center are encouraged to call the Department's storm hotline (800) 339-1759 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. For more information, please visit www.dfs.ny.gov.

Residents who would like to report damage in their community, please email HCFlood@herkimercounty.org and provide the following information:
- Address of the property
- Nature/type of damage (debris on property, embankment damaged behind/near property, damage to building foundation, etc.)
- Name and contact information of individual reporting the damage
