Memorial Day to Labor Day (summer hours):
Monday–Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm
Labor Day to Memorial Day (winter hours):
Monday–Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm
DMV: Monday–Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm
Transactions must arrive 15 minutes before the end of the business day ready to be put on record
Passports will only be issued from 9:00am to 1:00pm and 2:00pm to 3:00pm
The Old Forge DMV office will be open on Thursday and Fridays from 10:00am to 1:45pm
EDL and REAL IDs will only be issued from 8:30am to 3:00pm and CDLs will only be issued from 8:00am to 2:00pm due to the time allowed for testing
No permit test will be given after 3:00pm
The Herkimer Department of Motor Vehicles along with the Old Forge Department of Motor Vehicles will not be accepting online at home permit tests. All permit tests will need to be taken in person. Thank you for your understanding.
Holidays Office Closed: New Year’s, Martin Luther King Jr, President’s, Good Friday, Memorial, Independence, Labor, Columbus, Election, Veterans’, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
**NOTICE** An Order from the Supreme Court of New York County (Index # 452328/2016) has been filed in all New York State County Clerk’s Offices by the Attorney General’s Office that vacates certain Default Judgments filed by Leucadia National Corp, L-Credit LLC, LR Credit LLC, and LR Credit 1-23 LLC. If you have a judgment against you filed by one of the entities listed above, please contact your County Clerk’s Office.
The DMV is now open for walk-ins. For your convenience, you can still use the drop boxes which are located on the corner of Washington Street and Mary Street in Herkimer and on Mary Street in the front of the Herkimer County Office Building.
