June is Dairy Month!

At the Herkimer County Legislature Meeting on Wednesday, June 14, the Herkimer County Dairy Princess and her court were presented a proclamation in the honor of Dairy Month. The proclamation presented read as follows:
WHEREAS, The Herkimer County Legislature recognizes the importance of the county's 150 dairy farmers and the cooperating agribusiness in producing milk by caring for 13,000 cows, tending our soil and water resources, creating and retaining jobs, and appreciates the nutritious convenience and affordability of wholesome milk; and
WHEREAS, Milk and real dairy products are nature's most perfect food whose protein, natural sugars, vitamins, calcium and minerals contribute so much to our health and vitality all year long; and
WHEREAS, We also set aside time to pay tribute to the County's Dairy Princess Program's 55th year in representing dairy farmers, their milk and their life's work by speaking to children and adults at schools and community events; and
WHEREAS, We salute this year's Alternate Dairy Princess - Connie Louise Frasier of Mohawk, and Dairy Ambassadors Katie Livingston of West Winfield, Natalie Teachout of Richfield Springs, Isabella Allen of Richfield Springs, and Natalie Fredericks of Little Falls for their enthusiasm and passion in telling the story of milk; Now, Therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That I, BERNARD PEPLINSKI, SR., Chairman of the Herkimer County Legislature, do deem it fitting and appropriate to proclaim the Month of June 2018 as "DAIRY PRINCESS & COURT WEEK" and "DAIRY MONTH" in Herkimer County and encourage all citizens to join in this celebration.
