Assistant County Attorney
Herkimer County seeks applicants for this part-time (2 days per week) position. Minimum Qualifications require the possession of a license to practice law in the State of New York. The incumbent is responsible for the management and presentation of cases in all Herkimer County Courts. Additional responsibilities include: drafting and reviewing contracts on behalf of the county and for providing advice and counsel to Herkimer County Departments. This position also organizes, examines and coordinates materials and efforts related to the presentation of juvenile delinquency cases, represents Herkimer County in bankruptcy proceedings and does general legal research for the Herkimer County Attorney’s Office.

Social Services Attorney
Herkimer County seeks applicants for this full-time (35 hours per week) position. Minimum Qualifications require the possession of a license to practice law in the State of New York. This is professional legal work involving responsibility for providing legal services to the County Department of Social Services and providing counsel to the various divisions of the department. The work is performed under the general direction of the Commissioner of Social Services in accordance with overall policies of the department with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment in applying legal knowledge to specific problems and the taking of appropriate legal action, and performing related duties as required.
Base salary is $105,000 (2024), $115,000 after completion of 1 year, and $130,000 after completion of 3 years plus county benefits, including 100% paid health insurance and NYS Retirement.
